Letter from SCCPA Executive Board

Dear SCCPA Members,

We are committed to the well-being of our members and ensuring that our collective work within higher education is valued and supported. As professionals dedicated to student success, we recognize the challenges that arise when policies and legislation impact the work we do and the communities we serve.

As an Association, we remain non-partisan. However, this does not preclude us from acknowledging and addressing policies and legislative actions—both federally and within South Carolina—that may create uncertainty for our members and the students in our care. We are aware of the concerns many are facing regarding proposed legislation that could affect how we engage in equity-focused work, support students of diverse identities, and foster inclusive environments. SCCPA stands firm in our commitment to the values of student development, access, and belonging.

We recognize that these times may feel uncertain, and we want to assure you that SCCPA remains a space for dialogue, connection, and support. We encourage you to take care of yourselves and lean into the community we have built together. In the coming months, we will continue to provide opportunities to engage in conversations, share resources, and support one another as we navigate potential changes in our field.

Higher education plays a critical role in shaping the future, and we are honored to stand alongside each of you in this work. Thank you for your dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to student success.

In support and solidarity,
The SCCPA Executive Board

Conference Update

The South Personnel College Personnel Association (SCCPA) is excited to announce its 2025 SCCPA Conference (rescheduled from Fall 2024). The conference will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern at Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina. This year’s conference theme will be “Navigating Political Discourse and Free Speech in Higher Education,” which involves higher education professionals balancing the rights of individuals to express their views with the need to maintain a respectful and inclusive academic environment. This includes but is not limited to campus protests, challenges and tensions from open dialogue, and how higher education professionals can navigate this terrain. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals from across the state and surrounding region to come together, share best practices, and engage in meaningful discussions about this current issue in our field. You can find the link to registration here!
